Currently I am collaborating with the writer of the comic 'Nahualo' to produce an exciting graphic novel series called 'Sun King Tonatiuh', set in modern day Mexico. Ever since childhood, it has been my dream to make a mythology comic. I have always loved telling stories, drawing, learning about different cultures, mythology, and history… It is something I have always found important; they are ancient stories from the great tapestry of humanity and something beautiful to cherish and be proud of. I wanted to make something fun and accurate, without its liberties undermining or butchering the source material. This is how 'What’s New Under Tonatiuh?' and the animated short 'Leyenda del Quinto Sol' were born – Frequently humorous, and attempted faithful adaptations of Nahua mythology, created to capture the interest of those who might be turned away from the tired old words of a dusty history book. Indigenous culture is alive and flowing, and so too is the mythology. My content is never created to replace a history book – it is simply there to encourage people to pick up that history book.
